27 January: No school for Students
28/29 January: Review new policies in the class such as an updated homework and test correction policy. Students then received a map of Europe and will be responsible for knowing all the European countries. An online quiz can be found HERE. After a brief time where students identify the countries, we moved onto an overview of Semester 2 and expectations. PowerPoint lecture about Political systems was given, with a worksheet, that will help over the entire semester. 30 January: Continued work on Political Systems while also including the idea of Sovereignty. Students received a worksheet to help solidify their understandings and work with real world examples. Then moved into Absolute Monarchies throughout the history of Europe, which will be expanded upon during Friday's lesson. Students were also informed that the European Geography test will take place the Friday before Mid-Winter break. 31 January: Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau because the main focal point of the class, specifically their philosophies as it relates to governments. Students received a reading that broke down what they believed and started completing some guided notes. After students worked independently on each of the philosophers, I explained each of them in detail to iron out any misunderstandings. 20 January: MLK Day, No School.
21 January: Regular schedule for today. Students played a Quizizz and then had the rest of the period to use to ask questions and work on their note card for their Finals this week. 22 January: Finals for periods 5, 6, & 7 23 January: Finals for periods 3 & 4 24 January: Finals for periods 1 & 2 13 January: Snow Day! 14/15 January: More Snow Days. As all you know, there was slated to be an Exam over Unit 5 on 16 January. However, this will NOT happen on Thursday so please do not worry about this when you come back to school on 16 January. 16 January: Shortened Periods for the late start: gave a brief overview of how the rest of the semester is going to play out and gave the study guide to all students. From there students were informed about the 3x5 card they are allowed to have on the Final, but it must be in their own writing and turned in when they finish their final. Additionally, class consisted of students studying Units they need extra time on and/or have questions on. 17 January: Students given the note card that they will be able to use for the final. The final will be a minimum of 50 questions to 80 questions. 6 January: Welcome back from break and going over the plan and expectations for the remaining few weeks before the end of semester. Due to a malware attack on the system, the Historical Figures Project had to be pushed back to block day, therefore a lecture about the Renaissance took place. As well as showing the progression of art between the middle ages and the Renaissance, using comparing and contrasting. No Homework or worksheets were given today.
7/8 January: Historical Figure Project due today and the gallery walk took place. Students took notes on each of the figures, recording the why they are important and their impact on the world. Students turned their project and completed rubric questions in today. 9 January: PowerPoint and lecture over the Scientific Revolution. Students were also informed about the Unit 5 test having an open note component. After the duration of the lecture, students answered some questions involving the Scientific Revolution, including two analysis questions on the subject. 10 January: Protestant Reformation lecture specifically talking about the impact of Martin Luther and the reasons behind the split. Students then got a worksheet about the protestant reformation and the aftermath. |
