IMPORTANT REMINDER: Due date for all work is 6 November!
28 October: Second attempt on Geography test, all attempts from this point on need to be before school, after school, or during NEST. Information presented about the Tang and Song dynasties. 29/30 October: Discussion about Haijin and its effects on China. Students then given a recap on China with important information to know for the test in the future. 31 October: Making the shift from the Chinese Dynasty to the Caliphates, but starting off this part of the unit with a lesson on understanding Islam. Students were shown a brief video to give them a Crash Course understanding, along with guided notes. (Guided Notes briefly answered here and here) 1 November: Starting off the lesson with a brief overview of the Caliphates, then using the laptops to dive straight into the Abbasid Trade Map. In order to complete the map in its entirety, students will need to access a variety of different websites and documents, which can be found on THIS document. 21 October: Introduction of the Chinese Empire and the 8 major dynasties of Ancient China
22/23 October: Students have time to work on their assignments. Confucianism vs Legalism: breakdown, discussion, and overall impact. 24 October: Started off with a questionnaire for a potential new seating layout, moved to a pretty heavy lecture day discussing the Imperial Exams, Sinification, and comparing the Industrial Revolution to the Song Economy. Multiple handouts were given to the students on this day. 25 October: Students given the day to continue their work and understanding of concepts gone over from the day before. Additionally, students who want to retake the Geography Test will have time to study. 14 October: No School for Students
15 October: Guided notes going over the legacies of Rome and a handout discussing the good and bad of Roman rule. 16 October: Shortened period, day spent for clarification 17 October: Time given to take the Geography practice quiz. Students then worked in stations around the room to understand the different perspectives about the Fall of Rome. 18 October: First attempt at the Geography Test and work day to complete the handouts and assignments missing 7 October: Unit 2 Test taken today. All 6 classwork assignments turned in today for credit (see assignment page for list)
8/9 October: Introduction into Unit 3, which is the start of Ancient Empires. Students received a worksheet that will be due at the end of the entire unit. Also, started the geography portion of the class as well. Students will eventually be responsible for being able to locate 61 countries on a map. 10 October: Discussion about the three reasons why Empires become and stay successful. Handout on the Roman Acts. 11 October: All country handout given for help studying for the geography assessment next Friday. Students participated in a discussion on assimilation and pacification, then worked with 3 historical examples of the Roman Empire being successful in its conquest of other lands. |
