16 December: Students watched the next episode of the Mankind series and had a guided questions page to complete as they watched. If gone, the video is linked below. 17/18 December: Lecture over the High Middle Ages and the Crisis of the Middle Ages. Students were then given a worksheet that went over the major causes of the 14th Century. Students were then given a historical figure project, centered around the Renaissance period. In the Assignments page is the Rubric and reflection questions, while below is the example and key elements needed. Please email me with any questions or if you do not remember your historical figure. 19 December: Finish the remainder of the Mankind video and go over the guided questions. After this, workday to continue on the project that is due the Monday following break. 20 December: Workday on the project. If not completed by the end of this period, it is assigned as homework for break as it is due on 6 January. Have a fantastic winter break!!! 9 December: Working with the idea and topic of what constitutes a genocide. Moving into a comparison of the definition of Genocide to the Indigenous Americans' experiences in the Americas over the course of Exploration to the 20th century.
10/11 December: Today is a prep day for the test that will incorporate a few different ways to study. The first, a class Kahoot! that mimics the types and formulation of many of my multiple choice questions on the test, the second is a Q&A about anything that students are neededing extra assistance and clarification on, the third is comprised of me (Mr Hakes) discussing very key ideas to know and work with. Once all of three sections are complete, students get time to continue completing their study guide, working on material they have yet to complete, or quizzing each other for mastery. 12 December: Unit 4 Test 13 December: In Class Essay 2 December: Intro task that had students take the video they watched last week and analyze the five topics that led to the domination of Europe in the Americas. After a discussion about these topics took place, the class moved into a lecture and corresponding PowerPoint about the Age of Exploration. 3/4 December: Continue building on the Ideas and Impacts of the Age of Explorations. Then moved into the Columbian Exchange, specifically looking at the effects of Diffusion between the 'New' and 'Old' Worlds. Students had time in class to access the link (below) to work with the trade map and complete the worksheet. 5 December: Students watched a Mankind video, Episode, that discusses European Exploration. Specifically that prior to Pizarro, who was one of the main figures that was part of the Guns, Germs, and Steel episode the students watched prior to break. 6 December: Started the class discussing the impact of the Great Dying compared to the Black Plague. Moved into the Great Divergence and the 6 perspectives that allowed Europe to catch up and pass the rest of the World. |
